I used to go out to the bars most nights of the week for about a year and a half.. It started as a way to hang out with some of my close friends from work.. (We never really got the chance to see each other outside of second shift.) Over about six months, it metastasized. I went there looking for an answer to my problems and to numb the pain I was living with at the time. And for an obvious reason, it became my greatest adversary instead.
Small town life is beautiful if you take in every day like it's brand new and treat it like there is always something else to do.. I obviously didn't do that until it was almost to late. Since then, for the most part, I've been able to control myself and drink "responsibly." With that being said, this song was written after one of my hardest nights. I hope you all can take a little something from this regardless of how personal it is to me. Don't let yourselves fall into the trap I did regardless of how much you'd like to fit in.
